Peaceful Eastatoe
Experts can't agree on the exact translation of the word "Eastatoe".
One translation, "Green valley of the Bird" refers to the Cherokee
"Bird" tribe, who once lived here. The other possible translation,
"Valley of Green Birds" refers to the Carolina parakeet. This beautiful
bird was the only parrot native to eastern North America. It became
extinct in 1904. The Eastatoe valley was the last site where scientists
recorded a sighting of the species in South Carolina.

Peaceful Eastatoe
Green valley of birds
Peaceful Eastatoe
My favorite place on earth
Nestled 'neath the cool soothing rhododendron shade
High above the falls, in tangled disarray
Tracks of the Appalachian Railroad still remain
A place Mother Nature has reclaimed
Peaceful Eastatoe
Valley of green birds
Peaceful Eastatoe
My favorite place on earth
Every time I follow this fishing trail by Reedy Cove Creek
It takes these pieces of my life, & makes me complete
Blood of the Cherokee rushes through my veins
In search of wilderness
Untamed, unspoiled
Left undisturbed by man
Take me back to Natureland
Back to Natureland
